CCD Imaging Setup

Over the years I have had a lot of different equipment.
Now I'm using a Astro-Tech 111 f/7 Refractor for Imaging along with the Orion Atlas Mount.
The camera I have is the CCD-Labs QHY8 Camera
Guide scope is the Orion ST80 and the Starshoot Guider

Below you will see what I'm using.

Telescope Astro-Tech AT111EDT 111mm f/7 ED Triplet Apochromatic Refractor
  • 111mm f/7 triplet apochromatic optics using an ED element and all Ohara glass
  • Fully broadband multicoated, with blackened lens edges
  • Dual-speed 2.7” linear Crayford focuser with 11:1 ratio fine focusing
  • Rotating camera angle adjuster
  • Non-marring 2” and 1.25” brass compression ring eyepiece holders
  • Self-storing retractable lens shade/dew shield
  • Long-lasting white paint finish, with hard anodized grey trim
  • Aluminum-frame foam-fitted hard case

Mount: Orion Atlas Mount

  • The heavy-duty Atlas EQ-G equatorial telescope mount and tripod has ample strength to support up to a 40-lb. equipment load to easily manage all visual or astrophotographic applications
  • Select from among 42,900 celestial objects to explore using the intuitive menus on the computerized GoTo hand controller
  • Internal DC stepper motors offer nine slew rates ranging from 2x to 800x sidereal and three tracking rates: sidereal, lunar, and solar
  • Features a convenient CCD autoguider jack ; weighs 54 lbs. without counterweights attached
  • Includes an illuminated polar-axis scope for easy polar-alignment, 13" dovetail mounting plate, two 11-lb. counterweights, 12V DC power cable, RS-232 cable, and more - requires external 12-volt DC power source or AC-to-DC wall adapter (sold separately) for motorized operation

CCD Camera: QHY8 CCD Camera

With the QHY-8 the world has finally got a large format camera at world beater prices. Costing less than many competitors medium format cameras. With full 16bit analog to digital conversion, cooled to -35C below ambient and in a small package (not much larger than a standard CD). CCD-labs has partnered with QHY Astronomy to bring this affordable imaging package to the US market. With very low read noise and outstanding sensitivity this camera is sure to be a winner.

  • High resolution / High sensitivity / Excellent Ha sensitivity

  • Extremely low dark current (no dark frames needed if cooling is active)

  • High speed USB2.0 interface (full frame downloads in less than 10 seconds)

  • High speed focus mode full frame downloads in 1 second

  • Includes Nebulosity 2.0 for capture (AstroArt and MaximDL drivers available)

  • Sealed CCD chamber with Argon gas purge
